What is solar power fencing?

Solar power fencing is a physical and psychotically barrier to deter animals or people with mild electric shock. Solar fences use a mild electric shock to discourage animals from coming into contact with the fence.

How does the Solar Power Fencing Work?

EFI Solar fence energizer is a self-sufficient Energizer which uses solar power to charge an internal battery. The solar panel generates the DC energy and charge the battery. The output of the battery is connected to energizer. The energizer will produce a short, high voltage pulse at regular rate of one pulse per second. The live wire of the energizer is connected to the fence wire and the earth terminal to the Earth system. Animal/intruder touching the live wire creates a path for the current through its body to the ground and back to the energizer via the earth system and completes the circuit. Thus the intruder will receive a shock the greater the shock the intruder receives the more lasting the memory will be avoided in future.

How does a Solar Power Fence Alarm work?

Fence-Alarm works by simply connected to your fence line. It will be warn you when the voltage on your fence is falling short of the preset level.

 

Does rain affect Solar Power Fence?

Yes, they can lose some voltage during and after rain, especially if your insulators aren’t good enough or touching weeds and brush. Cut the brush and improve your insulators. Also look at a bigger fence charger if you have a small one.

How does Solar Power Fence deter and demarcate?

Deter: Anyone touching the fence will get a high voltage but safe/non-lethal shock thus stopping them from proceeding and creating a psychological deterrent. Since it is a pulsating voltage, the person does not get stuck to the fence but is rather thrown back due to electrical force.

Demarcate: Solar Power Fence can be considered as a physical barrier just like ordinary fences or walls.

Which Solar Fence Energizer should I use?

It depends on your situation. EFI makes many models with different capabilities. The questions to answer include:

-What animal are you controlling?

Domestic stock will take less power to control than fencing wildlife out of an area.

– How big an area do you need to fence?

Obviously, you will need a bigger energizer to carry adequate power on larger jobs. If there is a large vegetation challenge for the fence you will need more power. Plan now for any additions you may need down the road, too.

– What power source is available?

You can, use a 12 volt battery and a 12 volt solar panel.

– Do you need a permanent or portable system?

If your needs dictate a portable system, one of our solar kits may fit well.

Is Solar Power Fence safe?

Yes, Solar Power Fence is 100% safe. The width and interval of the shock pulse is so adjusted such that out heart can sustain such a shock without any harm. More over it does not leave any mark on one’s skin at the point of contact. The Solar Power Fence system is totally NON-LETHAL.

 

Is Installing Solar Power Fence around one’s property legal?

Electric fence is a legal system. Refer IS 302: Part 2: Sec 76 – Safety of Household and Similar Electrical Appliances – Part 2: Particular Requirements – Section 76: Electric Fence Energizers

What happens if the fence wires are cut or shorted?

Along with deterring and demarcating, the Solar Power Fence system also detects. Thus if at any point on the fence, there is an open circuit or short circuit, the system will trigger an alarm system, thus alerting the security guards and the owner of the property.

Can Solar Power Fence be installed with existing wall or fence?

Yes, Solar Power Fence can very much is installed with existing wall or fence. In case of wall, Solar Power Fence is installed on the top of the wall. In case of existing fence, Solar Power Fence can be attached to existing fence with the help of offset brackets. Alternately, we can also install a free standing Solar Power Fence some distance inside the existing fence system.

Guide To Fencing

Pole
  1. Anything like wood, iron, plastic, stone or cement can be used for fencing pole, on which the insulator can be tied.
  2. The length of pole depends on the location of the farm and the type of animal.
Insulator
  1. It is mandatory to install insulator for fencing, without it solar fence energizer will not work.
  2. Use only PPCP or ABS plastic insulator for fencing.
Wire
  1.  Do not use mesh and barbed wire in fencing, in this the Solar Fence Energizer (Solar Current Machine) does not work properly.
  2. Use only GI wire of 1.5 mm to 2.5 mm thickness in fencing.
Fencing
  1.  Insulator should be installed between the live wire of fencing and the pole.
  2. As many wires of current (power) are to be installed in fencing, as many insulators should be installed with each pole.
  3. How many wires will be used in fencing depends on the location of the farm and the type of animal.
  4. All the live wire of the fencing should be connected one by one with the power terminal (red point) of the solar fence energizer.
  5. The earthing rod inserted in the ground and the earthing wire tied in the fencing should be connected together with the earthing terminal (black point) of the solar fence energizer.
  6. Use a double insulated cable to run the current wire across the wall if the solar fence energizer is placed in a room.
Battery
  1.  Solar fence energizer runs on 12 Volt DC battery only, never connect it to 230 Volt AC power supply.

  2. The battery socket of the solar fence energizer should be connected to the cable of the battery.

Solar Panel
  1. Install the solar panel in the south direction on a slope of 28 to 30 degree angle and at a place where there is sunshine throughout the day.
  2. The solar socket of the solar fence energizer should be connected to the solar cable.
Earthing
  1. It is mandatory to put earthing road in the ground for fencing, without it solar fence energizer will not work.
  2. Install the earthing road in the ground at a distance of 20 feet or more from the solar fence energizer.
  3. Plant the earthing road at such a place where the soil remains wet and make sure earthing by adding coal-salt there.
Siren
  1. Connect the siren to the siren point of the solar fence energizer.
  2. Shorting the earthing terminal and power terminal of the solar fence energizer, turn the round button of the siren setting starting from the left side in the clockwise direction until the siren starts sounding, keep the siren button set at this place.
  3. If someone touches the wire in the fencing, if the wire breaks or if there is a fault, the siren will sound. The siren will continue to sound until the fault is rectified.

For 100% result in fencing, use only EFI company’s accessories like insulator, earthing kit, double insulated cable etc.
